Exeter dominate Uni NTS South opener
Exeter’s first team had a perfect day in Oxford to open up their University National Touch Series campaign.
The south-west outfit won all their games on the way to lifting the Cup title, recording two double-digit scorelines along the way. But there were a couple of scares, too, not least the quarter final against Bristol in which Exeter trailed 2-3 at half-time and only went on to win by the one try, 5-4 the final result.
Bath’s first team joined Exeter in the final, the two traditional powerhouses of University Touch going head-to-head once again. However while Bath pushed Exeter they were not able to take the trophy, Exeter winning 5-3.
Elsewhere Cardiff had an impressive day, beating Bath 3 in the pool round and then shrugging off their Cup quarter final loss to Exeter 2 to go on and win the Plate, seeing Bristol off 7-6 in that final.
The Bowl was decided by a round-robin between five teams, with Surrey winning all four of their matches to take home the silverware.
Round 2 South will be the final tournament to be held before Christmas, with teams heading to Surrey Sports Park on Saturday, December 4th.
