England Touch membership restructuring for 2023
Ahead of the new season England Touch is announcing the first major changes to individual membership and club/league affiliations in more than five years!
Growing our membership base is one of the Association’s key focuses for the next decade: we want to be able to engage and serve more of the people currently participating in Touch at all levels across the country in ways that are most relevant to them, and we need to generate revenue from a broader constituency so we can do more to re-invest in growing the sport, particularly at regional and local levels.
What’s changed?
- Small increase in annual membership and affiliation costs, coming into effect from April 15th, 2023
- Streamlined membership tiers
- New structure to benefits programme, adding more value to your membership
What’s new?
- New membership tier for individuals engaged only at regional levels coming into effect from May 1st, 2023
- Plans to introduce an entry level, local membership for next season
Why now?
- No increase in membership prices for more than five years
- To generate additional funds to continue to invest in the sport and its governance
- Significantly increased insurance costs, up 50% compared to pre-pandemic
- To ensure a broader pool of people enjoying the game in England are supporting the costs of administrating it
What comes with my membership?
- The national membership tier gives access to all ETA events, trials, training, and other participation opportunities at national and regional levels. National members are also eligible for selection into the representative High-Performance Programme
- Regional membership gives access to the relevant ETA events, trials, training and other participation opportunities offered by England Touch’s regional franchises
- Personal accident insurance for ALL individual members
- Public liability insurance for all individual members and affiliated clubs as well as employers’, management, and products liability and professional indemnity insurances for affiliated clubs and league operators
- Retail and leisure discount scheme available to all individual members
- Access to the ETA’s governance structures, support and advice, and a formal complaint process

We hope that this explains the changes and the reasons behind them, but in order to answer any questions, we will be holding two Zoom sessions after the Easter break. Details of these will be communicated shortly.
