Winter Series January round-up

Touch in 2022 started with some competitive action between some of the country’s best teams in Maidenhead and Nottingham.

The Winter Elite Series is a fixture for teams from London and the Thames Valley, with eight going head-to-head at the home of Maidenhead RFC.

Turtles built on their Emerging Men’s and Women’s NTS Men’s overall title with wins over EY London Vipers and London Eagles 1, with Surrey Bisons, Thames Valley Vikings and Oxford also getting two wins from their two matches.

Meanwhile Gresham Sports Park hosted the first Northern Winter Elite Series, with Nottingham joined by Loughborough University Wolves, NQ Rebels, Revolution and PFT.

This was competitive at both ends of the table, with NQ Rebels and Nottingham sharing the Round 1 honours with an identical record of three wins, one draw, and a try difference of +10 (21 scored, 11 conceded).

Try difference separated the other three teams in third, fourth and fifth, with them all gaining one win from their four matches.

Loughborough’s better attack saw them with a -2 try difference, with PFT on -7 and Revolution on -11.

The teams will come together for the next round of matches on February 20th, and while team places are full referees are welcome to get a run-out at both locations. Email refs@englandtouch.org.uk to express your interest.
