England increases representation on European Federation of Touch Commission

The European Federation of Touch (EFT) has just announced its new Commission appointees, and England has increased its representation by two.

Marnie Wills (Youth) and Gary Lambert (Women) join Kevin Hill (Events Director), Ian Syder (EFT Board) and Ben Powell (President) in helping to shape the future of European Touch.

EFT provides a forum for national governing bodies across Europe to come together to help develop the sport in the continent, and was officially recognised as such by the Federation of International Touch (FIT) in 2011.

In addition to ensuring that European countries follow the FIT rules and procedures necessary for a consistent sport, EFT also sanctions a number of international tournaments that give teams the chance to test themselves against their compatriots, including the biennial European Touch Championships – which are being held this year in Nottingham – and the annual Junior Touch Championships.

In 2017 these long-standing tournaments were joined by the Senior Touch Championships and two development competitions, the Premiership and Championship Permits, which were both used by England Touch to increase the number of players exposed to top level international Touch.

“It’s great to have a close working relationship with the EFT and assisting the growth of the game across Europe,” commented Chief Operating Officer Gregg Cropper. “The knowledge our members will provide within their new roles will be second to none and push forward the exponential development of our sport.
