Touch Nationals Finals Day live streaming information
England Touch’s management is delighted to announce that the Finals Day of the 2018 Touch Nationals will be streamed live by BBC Sport Online on Monday, August 27th.
Following an extremely successful European Touch Championships, which drew pleasing audience figures to the BBC the showpiece day of the domestic Touch season will now be broadcasted.
The Touch Nationals – held annually on the August bank holiday weekend – are the stepping stone between the club season and international representation, and following this tournament the High Performance Training Squads will be chosen for training ahead of the 2019 Touch World Cup.
“I’m delighted that BBC Sport has agreed to stream the Touch Nationals,” said England Touch Chief Operating Officer Gregg Cropper. “We were all thrilled with the viewing figures from the Euros, and it shows that we have a quality sport on the field and a superb team from England Touch and 24/7 Media putting the production together behind the scenes.
“I’m sure that all of the players who are involved in the regional teams will be as excited about this news as we are, and that it will be an added incentive to perform as well as they can on Finals Day.”
The Touch Nationals is being held once again at One Leisure Outdoor in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, which has been a superb host venue for a number of years.
Regional teams have been training throughout the past few months for the event, which includes the Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Mixed Open and Men’s 30s categories. In all there will be 26 teams from seven regions and over 400 players in Cambridgeshire for the weekend.
Masters and Juniors categories have their own distinct two-day event, which will be held in mid-September.
Days one and two will include round-robin matches that will decide the placings ahead of the knockout stages and will be streamed on the England Touch YouTube channel and website. These channels have also been wildly successful for England Touch over the past month, with 620,000 viewing minutes in July 2018 alone.
