Runaway winners Hit n Run take Manchester STEEDEN DTS Round 2
The second round of the STEEDEN DTS took place in Manchester on Saturday, with mixed weather that saw lots of sun, thunder, lightning and heavy
The 11 teams convened to pay their respects following the terrible attack in Manchester earlier in the week. The tournament organisers described the city as a place of joy, diversity and inclusivity and how these are the same values as Touch Rugby. The tribute also included a recording of the moving version of poet Tony Walsh's This is the Place, an ode to the city of Manchester and its people.
There then followed some fantastic hard and fast Touch with two hotly contested pools. Hit n' Run were unbeaten in all their pool matches and then went on to win the first-v-first playoff against Warwick Knights to take the Cup. CSSC Spirits followed up their first round STEEDEN DTS win in Newbold to take home the Plate, and the Bowl went to Manchester Super Chargers.
Well done to all the players, player refs and full-time referees who made the tournament a huge success. An excellent day of Touch all round; roll on Round 3 in Northampton in July!
Always remember, never forget, forever Manchester.
