England get first win in Port Macquarie
England went from strength to strength on the first day of the New South Wales Touch Association State Cup, recording their first win in the third game of the day.
The first game of the day was against Penrith Panthers, last years winners, in the stadium of the tournament fields. England were slow to start, taking some time to adjust to the speed of the game and the occasion. England pulled a solitary touchdown back through debutant Adam Bimson, in the live streamed game, but were happy with their improvements throughout the game.

Game two was against Canterbury Bulldogs and in contrast England started well, with Vaughn Meredith scoring a touchdown straight off the tap off. The team lost their way slightly as the game continued and came off second best in a battle of driving, despite showing some excellent periods of play. Toby Phillips crossed the whitewash after a period of prolonged pressure on the Canterbury line and Clark Hobson scored a superb solo touchdown.
The final game of the day was against Beresfield Bandits and England showed their best performance of the day despite suffering a number of injuries. Will Serocold finished well from a Dom Tripp miss-pass to put England ahead and the team pieced together some good driving and strong line attack to come out on top. Dan Mayall scored his first senior touchdown and Adam Bimson bagged his second score of the day after taking a superb interception and racing the length of the field to score.
England can take a lot of positives from the day and will be hoping to keep improving on day two.
