Medway residents are being the offered the chance to try a number of different sports “ and then play for their local sports club “ thanks to a new National Lottery-funded project.
The Medway Touch Association is running a 12 week participation programme starting on 6th January and running through to 24th March every Thursday evening at The Thomas Aveling School, Rochester. There will be two sessions each evening, one at 7:15pm and one at 8pm. They are open to any Medway resident over the age of 16 and are completely free.
Places are limited to 20 per session and being offered on a first come basis, so please email info@medwaytouch.co.uk to register your interest.
The new sporting opportunities have been made possible by a £2,584 grant from Sport England “ which is working with local communities to get people playing more sport.
Trevor Jefferies, Medway Touch™s Chairman, said: œMedway Touch is a young but strong local club but we™re always looking to attract more members. Our project is opening up our club and giving people in Medway the opportunity to play a number of sports including touch, ultimate frisbee and softball competitively or just for fun. We™re delighted to have received Lottery funding to make it all happen. We are running the project to offer residents who perhaps are new to the area, recently split from a partner or just can™t persuade anyone to try sports with them to have the opportunity to exercise, play a variety of sports and more importantly have fun regardless of age or ability
Sport England invests National Lottery and Exchequer funding in projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.
